People still suspect that I am a hearing man pretending to be deaf...

While I was at my computer, I happened to be sitting in a way that my glasses was showing a reflection of the front door. I saw in the reflection of the door opening and someone coming in. I knew this would be my mother - she was supposed to come over at that time. I swiveled the chair around to face my mother and I said to her, "Hi...I heard you come in." She froze in her tracks as if to believe that I had actually heard her. Her expression was PRICELESS...I cracked up hard, turned around away from her, and laughed myself right into tears. Even when my mother finally got around to me, I couldn't stop laughing. She knew, KNEW...that I got her really good.

Lin - I know...just wish I had a camcorder running to capture that moment to share with everyone.

That is funny, I can imagine your mother's shock!
I've been nosing through your blog. I have never even met a person who is deaf, so it's very interesting to read and learn. Thank you for being so honest, and for dissipating some...I won't say myths because I honestly don't know any myths about deafness, but again, it's just not something I know.

Sandra - you are welcome to nose around in here. You came over from Real World blog, I presume? If not, I've contributed to RW and you can check me out there. :)

There is so much to learn about the deaf people and the deaf culture. That declaration alone is enough to keep this blog alive for years. LOL

You will get to learn many things about me and hopefully, you will enjoy reading every post. Thanks for being my latest follower.

That's awesome!
As my daughter's teacher always reminds parents who are baffled by the fact she's deaf but missing nothing, there are a lot of things that happen where you don't need sound to know it is happening. This is a great example of this.

Emmy - this gives me an idea on another post. Thanks for that inspiration. :) You're absolutely correct and my yet-to-be-written post will go into details on that. LOL

Hilarious - though I suppose it would be slightly funnier if on your deathbed you confessed you'd been hearing all along!

Megan - who knows, I just may do that. ;)
