While watching a movie in some darkness, a friend leaned over and mouthed "Shut your vote."
I signed, "What?"
Friend (enunciating more): "Shut...your...vote."
I thought this over, trying to make sense of that...I signed "Shut?" with a quizzical look on my face.
Friend: "No, check your vote."
Me (signing): "Check my...vote?"
Friend cracked up and said, "Check your phone."
Geez, YOU try lipreading in the darkness! LOL

I have a reverse story.
I was out on a date with a hearing guy. I kept trying to make conversation with him and he kept not understanding me, and he was rather rude; I got cheesed off. "Do I embarrass you?" I said to him.
He looked at his watch and looked up and at the door and said "Okay, let's go!" and I was like "whoa wait what did you think I said?"
"I thought you said 'Do I want to marry you?'"
Errrm.
